Many users met with this issue after updating the macOS to the latest version. Luckily, fixing this issue is super easy and does not cost anything from you.     What Does Encryption Credentials Have Expired Mean

    Encryption Credentials are the password that is encrypted to remain as an unexposed password on a database account. You can use this encrypted version password during the authentication process. Suppose you encounter Encryption Credentials Have Expired alert on your Mac OS X, it means the certificates on Embedded Web Server (EWS) on your Mac are expired, and your Mac OS is rejected after expiration. Due to this issue, you are not allowed to print using your Printer, as it no longer accepts encrypted jobs.

    How to Fix Encryption Credentials Have Expired on Mac Issue

    You can fix the encryption credentials expiration issue by following the below techniques.

    • Restart Your Network & Printers
    • Use AirPrint Printer Driver
    • Create a New Certificate

    Restart Your Network & Printer

    You can fix the encryption credentials issue that has expired by restarting your network and printer by following the steps given below.

    Quick Guide: Turn Off Router > On Mac, Control Center> Setup > Network Setup > Restore Network Settings > Turn off Printer > Turn on Router > Turn on Printer > Wireless setup Wizard.

    1). Turn off your Router by pressing the power button.

    2). On your Mac, go to Control Panel and click Setup.

    3). Then, choose Network Setup and then select Restore Network Settings

    4). Then, turn off your printer and wait for 30 seconds.

    4). Now, power your router or modem and wait until you get a steady internet signal.

    5). Power on your Printer and connect it to the network by launching your printer’s Wireless Setup Wizard.

    Note: Besides the printer, you shall Connect Magic Trackpad to your Mac as an external device for easy navigation.

    Use AirPrint Printer Driver

    After resetting your printer network settings, you have to reinstall your printer and use Apple’s AirPrint printer driver to enable Computer Operating System to recognize the printer driver software as secure.

    Delete Printer from Mac

    Quick Guide: Apple Menu, System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > choose printer > Delete Printer > go to /Library/Printers > select printer folder > Move to Bin > Restart Mac.

    1). On your Mac, go to Apple Menu and choose System Preferences

    3). Now, choose your printer and remove the printer you no longer use from the device by clicking the Delete Printer.

    4). After deleting the printer, go to /Library/Printers and move your printer folder to Trash Bin

    6). Restart your Mac and Printer by turning off and unplugging them for a minute, then turn them on.

    Add Printer to Mac

    After removing the printer from your Mac, change the printer driver to AirPrint instead of Secure AirPrint, and then add a printer to your Mac again by following the below steps.

    Quick Guide: On Apple Menu, System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > click Plus Sign > choose printer > Use or Print Using > choose AirPrint > Add.

    1). On your Mac, go to System Preferences from the Apple Menu.

    2). Then, choose Printers and Scanners.

    3). Click on the Plus sign to add your printer to the device.

    4). Then, choose the Printer or scanner you want to add.

    5). After adding a printer, open the Use or Print Using menu and choose AirPrint.

    7). After changing the driver path, restart your computer and Printer.

    8). Once the device gets on again, check whether the encryption credentials expired issue gets resolved.

    Note that this method of reinstalling works fine on all brands of printers like Canon, Toshiba, HP, Dell, etc.

    Create a New Certificate

    More often, creating a new certificate will help you to fix the printer encryption credentials’ expired issue. Learn to create a new certificate in the below steps.

    Quick Guide: On Browser, enter printer IP address > press Enter Key > Network > Advanced Settings > Plus sign > Certificates > Configure >  Create Self-Signed Certificate > Next > Finish.

    1). On your Macbook, open the browser and enter the IP address of the printer in the browser tab.

    2). Then, click Enter to open the EWS page.

    3). From the EWS page, go to the Network section and click Advanced Settings.

    3). From the Advanced Settings section, click Plus sign and then choose Certificates.

    4). Then, choose Configure option and click Create Self-Signed Certificate.

    5). Finally, click Next, followed by Finish, to let the printer generate the new certificate.

    6) After completing the process, restart your computer and check whether the issue gets resolved.

    Alternatively, you can also reinstall your printer under the LPD Protocol instead of AirPrint to solve the encryption credentials expiration issue. Finally, you can use LPD for printer-related problems on older printer models when connected to MacOS.
